    Hi guys

Anyone got any recommendations for books on digital photgraphy?

I am a complete noobie but a fast learner. There are tons of books out there so which to choose!

Also any photography clubs that anyone here is a member of in Waterford?

Somebody was nice enough to get me Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson for my birthday at the weekend,
Not had a good chance to read it yet but might certainly help you out.

I've not joined the Waterford photography club but meant to tag along to last meeting they had, going to try the next one in October as I can't make the one tonight as I have a wedding up the country tomorrow

if it's Digital specific, then I would recommend this, otherwise +1 for Understanding Exposure and Learning to see creatively by Bryan Petersen

I seem to be recommending this book every second post! Excellent book.

Yep - in fact i recommend buying two of them ! ;)

Also recently read / reading "The Digital Photography Book: Scott Kelby"

Its simple and easy to read. It doesn't try to turn you into an oracle but covers topics very quickly - most are 1 page small format. Maybe as much as you need to know when getting started.

It won't turn you into an expert overnight but there are some very practical tips in there for all kinds of situations. The guy even tries to have a sense of humour (not that it works terribly well! :)

    Happy reading

Second the Tom Ang book. I have it too and find it useful. It's also worth - if you have a special interest (like I do) looking at what's available in that vein. I'm pretty sure that if you're into travel photography, for example, The Rough Guide people have a good book and I am certain that National Geographic do as well.

I guess as a noobie I will get one of those "general" books you mentioned.

As for special interest, anyone got any recs for books on baby photography ( Ive got one on the way!)

    Indeed.

We might even have a Waterford Pint Up beforehand, just so we all know each other.

    That and I like pints.
