Advancing the opportunities for musicians and the development of a musical community within Dublin that would socialize regularly:

This is the first post or “appeal” for bringing together a social group for musicians who are located Dublin. The objective is to build a broad community of musicians that would not just know each other formally, but socially and would meet regularly to play music, gain experience, exchange ideas in terms of compositional, performance practices, and general exchange of information about ALL areas of music. To experiment with music and exhange ideas with all ranges of music, and enable greater chances of composing or performing in an original manner through a range of musicians ideas etc.

Basically, it would be a support system for musicians, to meet up and socialise regularly with others who have a great interest in music

Considering Dublin has a limited number of orchestras, music groups and/or social communities, compared with those of UK, Europe and USA, (including multiple orchestras, marching bands, whatever be your taste, but hopefully you’re getting the picture), Dublin clearly lacks the same measure of outlets for musicians compared with other European cities…despite the talent….

I’m looking for Musicians primarily in the age group of 20s-30s but any age is welcome really, its not formal, more social, getting to know, share and perform music, to bounce ideas off each other. It’s more of an informal setting that would allow amateurs and professionals alike to gather ideas together….

anyone interested in participating and helping to construct and bring this idea together...if you could contact me at the email address I'd be interested to hear of the support of this idea and looking for people who would be enthusiastic, motivated and would take a part and position in collaborating to see this social group come together, any ideas are welcome....thanks…the objective being to developing this community for the broad spectrum of musicians in Dublin to socialise and communicate, to see this as an expansive community to build upon…thanks…

Even if you could just mention your instrument here in this forum, to demonstrate your interest, all instruments, all music types, classical, ethnic….thinking expansive…this isn’t a solo act on my terms, nor an employment opening..…but it perhaps could open opportunities…thanks…if you could contact me with details of instruments, styles, music types, or mention them here on the forum….or what you could bring to this....

I can’t emphasis enough that it would be informal, social functions

    I'm in. And a pianist.

Don't expect me to organise anything, though. Actually, I probably won't be able to show up at many of the meetings, even...

For all my failings, I'm actually pretty good at organising events. Defo count me in. Once we decide a date, I'll let you know who can come.

As elitist as it sounds, I'm only inviting 'serious' msicians, i.e people who take music seriously

I agree with above. No jokers/scumbags please.

    That leaves me out then.

Thanks for the interest, I replied to those emails. Acid-Violet, it doesn’t matter the key thing is that you are ‘seriously’ into that music area, and really know what you're talking about and are a reasonable standard in the field...(just starting your music career) whatever your area of interest performing, composing, musicology, conducting, computer music...etc....

You both do realise you shouldn't really post direct links to your email in a public forum?

You could get hit with a lot of spam.

Better to phrase it something dot something at blank dot com, etc

Paul check your email. You sent the email to 'music' not 'musical' intelligence@hotmail.com that's why i didn't get it initially, its my email too but send emails to the 'musical' email address
