DSL and Phone issues in 023 , 028

    Hi all Im just wondering does anyone know what happened the phones lines and DSL in west cork on Friday evening ?

    The phone lines came back on Saturday evening and the DSL this evening

    a big enough outage in the West Cork area?

    I persume someone with a digger ?

    023 and 028 (along with 027 and 029) are all on the same exchange (Bantry E10B). If something seriously goes wrong at that E10B, phone service for all these NDCs is out.

    That doesn't explain the problems with DSL. If a cable was cut by a digger, one would expect the phone and DSL service to return around the same time.

    It is hard to reconcile the delays - aside from typical eircom pig inefficiency. They never mention these events on their website or offer an apology. All these systems should have redundancy built in.
