wii / gamecube compatibility questions

Do I need to get a gamecube memory card and controller to play gamecube games on my wii?

Any recomendations of good gc games that never made it to the ps2 or xbox?

Yes you do if you have a classic controller then it doesnt matter what game cube controller you use

The Metroid and zelda games are all pretty much esential, F-zero, Pikmin 1 and 2, Mario Sunshine, Fire Emblem, Paper Mario, Chibi Robo, Tales of Symphonia just off the top of my head.

thanks. so an old gamecube controller will suffice for both wii and gamecube games? or do I need the new version for wireless play?

An old GC controller is needed for GC games, and can be used for most virtual console games. It can't be used for Wii games though...

..but a new one can do all three?

Just get yourself a GC controller, it does everything except play Wii games. The new controller can only play Wii games and a few VC titles.

Thanks RetrO. So does that mean all wii games are compatible with the nunchuk/wiimote and the classic controller? (sorry for being a noob)

All Wii games are compatible with the wiimote and nunchuk. Classic controller is only compatible with VC games but will be compatible with Smash bros. brawl as well when it's out.
