I am using Quark 5 on a pc laptop after several years absence and previous (considerable) experience of Quark 4 on a Mac. I find I cannot open multiple documents in Quark. If I have a document open and try to open a second document it just replaces the first one. Any suggestions?

Try reinstalling it. Are you on PC or Mac?

You might consider moving over to Adobe InDesign.

I have to stay with Quark. I am now on a pc with 5 but am more used to Quark 4 on a Mac. I wondered if there was something I was missing or omitting to do as the differences (such as shortcuts etc) between mac and pc can be a bit difficult to spot sometimes.

Did you look in under "window" at the top of the screen? I work in Quark 7, but I imagine it's the same. It will open up a document and look like it's replacing one, but if you scroll to the bottom under "windows" both should be there.

If not, reinstall might be needed. If it doesn't work after that call their customer service -- I have gotten good results with them.
