    Eh, no.

Worth a punt (or a euro) at 900/1 on paddy powers lol. Seriously though no. Pitty Percy Montgomery declared for South Africa. He could have been a legend in his native Nambia. They might have beaten Ireland if he was on the pitch.

    Never

France by 60 is the likely outcome, but you just never know in this World Cup do you!

fingers crossed... but not very likely, might be useful if france fail to get a bonus point though

    No, France are not Ireland.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,375 ✭✭✭padser

    True, France wouldn't lose it.

However they did play pretty badly against Argentina and if they were to play badly against Namibia (say winning by 20 points or so) they could actually go into their match against us in worse shape mentally then we are.

At the moment I think our best chance lies with France imploding due to the pressure - and a bad showing against Namibia tonight could really help that

We wish! France to get 6 tries

No, I'd say France by 50, but no more.

Red card for Namibia. This is going to become a massacre.

Joke of a decision. 3rd try for Namibia.

i think the red card's fair, you can't target someones neck like that

    France ;)

France's strength really showing for that third try.

It looked really vicious. It was the second high tackle he did as well.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 400 ✭✭beglee

seems a bit harsh to get a red for that high tackle. ive seen worse that didnt even get a yellow

edit: if it was his 2nd high tackle though, then thats a bit more understandable. (not paying 100% attention to the match so must have missed the 1st one)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 776 ✭✭✭Narcissus

    There's the fourth

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,584 ✭✭✭✭Creamy Goodness

it was actually his third high tackle, he was warned twice before hand.

    Try number six.

    France really hammering them.

    40 - 3 at half time.

France doing to Namibia what I thought Ireland would have done to them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 433 ✭✭giddyup

Getting ridiculous now - try after try after try. Puts Ireland performances into perspective.

ya but Namibia are down to 14 men, and they were fresh off the blocks last week......so there:p

    wishful thinking on my part

France's 11th try....their 9th was run in by Chabal from the halfway line...half the Namibian team couldn't stop him!!

Fair dues to Namibia for eight minutes France didnt score

Well at least they got a try at the end:p

Definitely puts Ireland's difficulties against Namibia into perspective although there are a couple of mitigating circumstances such as going down to 14 men early, best player (10) going off injured, etc. However, Ireland should have been home and dry against them no matter what.

On the back of that, France'll beat us by 40.

I think it was perfectly fair. Tackles like that are very dangerous and the punishments for them have to match.

I really doubt that, especially if they start Michalak. Though they ran in loads of tries, their play was still not convincing and made a lot of silly errors in the first half. The red card ended the game as any sort of contest. I think Rolland got it right. It was a dangerous tackle and Chabal seemed out of it afterwards. Another player might have been more seriously hurt.

I'm saying it's a possibility. Our handling errors, inability to find touch and lack of imagination ought to cancel out any mistakes France may make.

I agree that Rolland made the right decision. it was a second or third offence, personally, he was of for me on the previous one, just after the whistle.

If we're unfortunate enough to get someone sent off 20 mins in, France will put us to the sword, but if it's the other way round, we might win by 3, at most.

Only watched the first half but I wasn't overly impressed with France. They didn't play well. Marty knocked the ball on 3 times in 10 mins. They fcuked up two long kick-offs with Michalak tossing it about badly on his own out-off-touch line, Poitrenaud kicked out on the full, they gave up a few turnover balls.

Essentially I'd give them a C- for that performance. I'd have given Ireland a D- (a bare pass).

If the Namibians had a man sent off against us we would have won by more maybe 45-10. Even playing as badly as we did.

We have to up it but to be honest I have more hope for us against France after looking at that match than before it. France still not anywhere near there best. With huge pressure on them for the Ireland game, they have to win or there out and a mentally suspect couple of players on their team I don't think it's inconceivable that we could beat them. Unlikely yes, impossible no.

if France don't start well and the crowd voice their displeasure...then it's a slim possibility. Michalak tends to crack under pressure. So hopefully Leamy or one of the back row can introduce themselves to him early.
However, France rarely lose to Ireland in Paris. Also, bear in mind while there were a few errors from France, their forwards did to Namibia what Ireland's abjectly failed to do.

This result doesn't bode well for us. Kind of highlights our insufficiencies.

Oh I totally agree. He could have seriously hurt Chabal so I think it was the right decision.

Namibia were starting to crumble before the red card. The end result wouldn't have been far off what it was had the red card not been given.
