Since I installed postgreSQL my computer has slowed down considerably when multitabling.... I now notice my CPU is at 100% useage all the time when I'm running 12+ tables... It is eating my CPU do you think?

My computer is a decent enough spec. Decent processor loads of ram decent hd etc etc... about 4 months old

    ideas anyone.....??? thanks

loving the extra large fonts, are you a pensioner? :D

    go back to task manager,
    click on process tab
click on cpu twice (to put process in order of who is using the most cpu power)
    post up another screen shot

your looking at memory usage, that doesnt "really" matter because you have a ton of ram, cpu usage is the problem and look at all the "postgres.exe" tasks

why are you using fast user switching?

    *well it does, ish

Yeah postgressql is using the processor big time, I'm not sure why this is the case though, it's fine on mine. Then again I hardly ever go beyond 4 tables open.

I didn't know about this featue either until I googled it now, does it have an impact on cpu usage or ram usage whether it's enabled or disabled?

Press Alt + PrtScn when you want to get a screenshot of the highlighted window

open up something like microsoft paint
and choose Paint from the Edit menu.

Just press alt and print screen and paste it into paint and then save it as a jpeg.. then upload it to www.imageshack.us and post link here..

    thats what I do anyway...

Are you using pokertracker or any sort of database driven poker overlay?

Does this only happen when you are multitabling? Does it progressively get worse as you open up more tables?

yeah I'm using PT and GT+ and it definately get worse when opening more tables.. it's fine up to about 6 tables but when i go oever that things start to slow down..

I alos notice when PT fires to get hands it nearly stops the computer..

Thats your problem. Postgres has installed a new database driver that is inefficient in the way that PT is drilling for data. If you have the latest versions of both, then I'm sorry, I dont have a fix for it except uninstalling one of them.

Obviously this is my differential diagnosis without actually seeing patient. Sorry, been overdosing on House lately :)

Set priority for PT to low in the processes tab of task manager, by right clicking on it. This might also work for postgres? I dunno if it will or if it will break your pc but I remember doing this solved a similar prob once.
