I dont know if anyone has seen this but ive just tried to record the highlights on Sky Sport Ones' Football First using a dvd recorder and its come up as "cannot record, protected content. Are sky now using some protection, like macrovision, to disable recording? The featured highlights recorded ok, as did the movie channels but as soon as I went into the football first menu to choose a match, it wouldnt work. And in fact, stop the recording by itself. Anyone had any problems with this? And is the football just the start?

    It's so you'll buy a plus box

But you still can't record an interactive stream on a Sky+ box.....

This is the first time theyve done it though. It was working two weeks ago, when the premiership was last on. I havent seen anything on the sky website about it, or anywhere else for that matter, at all.

But you can with Football First. Go to Football First on the A-Z listings, press record and it should give you a choice of games to record.

Could this have anything to do with Sky Sports being free to all this weekend?

Sky have used Macrovision on selected transmissions and channels since the start. We used to have a Salora and it could not cope. Top 3" of picture tore on Sky Box office on live and of course totally unwatchable via VHS.

Sky Box office seems to be the main culprit. Never had a problem on the "regular channels".

As well as Macrovision there is a copyright flag to prevent some digital recorders operating.
