Beer Lao

After recent travels to Laos in South East Asia i have pronounced Beer Lao the beer for me. Only problem is it doesn't appear to available in Ireland. I googled it and found a supplier in the Uk that will sell by the crate...however none of my London based friends are keen on bringing crates as part of their 12KG Ryanair luggage. The only Irish related google I could find was for Eurobeers who apparently were bringing Beer Lao in and supplying it to amongst others The Porter House in Dublin. On a recent visit to The Porter House all probes were met with blankness and on further investigation EuroBeer have gone bust. Any suggestions on where to lay hands on this beer gold much welcomed.

The Bull & Castle in Dublin has it.

I love that beer. I thought there was something about it not being exported...? Or was it just that they wouldnt sell it in neighbouring countries due to its extreme superiority over other local brews?

Carlsberg are now in bed with Beer Lao brewing company with the intention to make it more exported. Its definitely one of the better SEA beers. I prefer the Dark version over the regular, but still good.

Probably old news, but this is available in Ireland now.

Just had a bottle, very nice. Supposedly hada 99% market share in Laos until recently.

    OP,

It's been available in Dunnes for ages.

The Ivy House in Drumcondra also sell it. 4 bottles for a tenner.

I honestly think it's one of the worst beers I've ever tasted. I didn't finish the bottle of it and that only happens very rarely for me.

Correction: I'm thinking of Chang beer. Awful stuff altogether.

It was delisted a while back because nobody bought it. Some of the quieter stores might still have some left but at this stage I doubt it.

    Bump.

Anyone know if Beerlao can be found anywhere in Ireland at the moment? Seen a few older threads about it being available in JC's in Swords and in Dunnes over the past few years, but I couldn't find it in any of the dunnes i've been in recently. Not been out in Swords so cant speak for that.

Nope haven't seen it here in well over a year, looks like it was only available once.

It's not a bad beer, but do we really need to import a beer all the way from bloody Laos when there are literally 10s of 1000s of beers here in Europe?

Has this disappeared from our shores completely? was talking to a colleague today about this and forgot how I used to love a cold bottle of it..

Hi guys! Any news on Beer Lao? I'd love to get some as a nostalgic xmas present and would really appreciate if anyone has any clue as to which shops might sell it. Tried a couple of Asian markets around Dublin but they didn't seem to sell alcohol. Chang beer would be my plan B if you guys know where to get that also?

    Thanks a million :)
