    Hi Everyone,

There was suppose to be a Fetac Level 5 Childcare course kicking off in Rush, Co. Dublin, run by the Swords VEC on Friday September 21st, however due to insufficient numbers (7 only, need 14 max ideally), it has been postponed until January.

The course was due to run every Friday from 9.30 to 4.00 in the Rush Community Centre. Prerequisties for the course are: 1) Level 4 completion, or 2) 3-5 years experience working in childcare. You are also interviewed prior to acceptance.

The cost of the course is 850euro, however if you hold a current valid medical card, or have not completed/passed your leaving certificate it is totally free.

So anyone interested ? If yes, please PM me, and I can give you the contact details of the training coordinator.

If we can get the numbers up even in the next week or so, there might be the possibility of getting the class started in the coming weeks.

Might be an idea to contact other centres in the County VEC as well as the CDVEC that run similar courses. If any of them have a course that is over-subscribed (or under subscribed and not running) they may be able to point students in your direction.

Hi just saw your ad about the fetac 5 in childcare in rush, my wife did the fetac level 4 last year at st catherines, and was supposed to the fetac 5 this year, but with the cut backs for medical card holders, this course is no longer funded we couldn't afford it. They are running this course in Swords at €1225, but this is out of our reach, we just saw another at Drogheda IFE Dife, at just €240 but this was for just one module, so it would take four years to complete. If you here of anything, can you let us know.

    many thanks
    anto

So far as I know childcare course is the only course for females. They can find the career in this field. Visit the following website which have very useful information on childcare.

May be too far for your wife but DIFE (Drogheda Institute of further education) are running a one year Childcare Fetac Level 5 course 9-4 starting this September 2009 (until May 2010) ... would this be of interest/possible for your wife?

You can be a childcare professional/take a childcare course and be male or female.

I did the course a number of years ago over one year in Killester College, I think it was only 350 odd at the time.

There were people coming from as far as Skerries to do the course.

I think its a two year course now but might be worth considering
