This is the washing machine/dryer in my apartment. I can use it to wash clothes but for the life of me I can't get it to dry them.

Does anyone have any previous experience with this damned machine? I really need to get my dry on y'all.

Make sure the dial with all the different programmes is set to dry. It's a circle in a square with two dots in the middle I think. Other than that check the dial for drying time is switched to a number and isn't slightly off the highest number. That's how ours works!

    Actually. no, I am still dryer-less :(

You need a service code to get the manual. This code should be on a service sticker on the machine. After pulling the machine out from the wall for a thorough check, I discovered that my machine is probably the one in a million that has no sticker!

Also, there is no dryer symbol on the programme dial.

Why don't they just have two buttons; wash and dry. That would be too easy I suppose!

Ask the wimmen to do it. *hides* I tried to do the washing once, nearly lost an arm. :(

It looks the same as my one so see if this helps. Press in the 'half drying load' button and then set the time for drying on the dial. Should kick in then.

This is probably the main cause of my problem, my good lady is away for the weekend

I've tried that, but it sprays water in the drawer on this setting, which, if it is drying, doesn't make much sense!

Power of One! Power of One! You should be leaving the clothes somewhere to dry naturally instead of using the tumbler drier.

Anyway, I got to open this page on the site with no registration required.

    1. Set the big dial to 'Stop' (The one with the letters on it)
    2. The middle dial has times in it e.g. 120, 80, 60, set this one.
    3. Then the first dial is for the temp set that one.
Its better to set it when its turned off then turn it on and it has to work, i is a wimmins i should know!

There's something wrong with this picture, as i said before i is a wimmin and he's doing his washing and i'm watching the rugby. Eventually the roles have reversed :D

Thanks anotherlostie! This should work. Apparently you're supposed to do things backwards:

Select a drying time based on the type of fabric
    (cotton/synthetic), amount of laundry and
desired final results (iron/cupboard dry), using
    the “Drying Time” knob.
    4. Press the“Half load Drying” button.
    5. Turn on the water tap, check the drain hose,
Use the “ON/OFF” button to turn on (the
    indicator light goes on).

So set the time, press the drying button and then turn the machine on

    It makes so much sense!

    Your "laundry" lady?

OP, I was in the same boat a while back. Moved in to a new apartment with a friend. She is just as bad as me when it comes to working a washing machine, let alone an iron
Anyway, one day I couldn't open the washing machine door. The cycle was finished, but it wouldn't open. I ended up washing my clothes four times before I was able to get them out.
Don't get me started on figuring out how the dryer option worked. Trial and error and clothes getting washed more than once

When the Americans went into space they spent a fortune developing a zero-gravity pen that worked, the Soviets used pencils.

Use a rope line run long the hallway.

Washing machines are designed to be cryptic. There is no reason they can't have an intuitive way to work the damn things but they still use this out of date system that nobody is happy with. Everyone learns to live with their crappy washing maching/dryer, nobody is ever actually happy after getting one which leads me to the conclusion they are all crap.

It takes me about 5 minutes of just staring at these things after moving into a new place to work out which option I want to use.
