My TM MP5a5 arrived from ehobby on thursday and I tested it yesterday.
I charged the batt, plugged it in, pulled the trigger....nothing, just a slight sound for a second.
The batt I have is a 1400mAh 8.4V so it should work with the MP5, the only thing with this is the manual says it's supposed to be an 8.4V 600mAh one.
Could I have ruined the MP5 and what can I do to rectify this?
    Thanks

You have not damaged your Mp5 at all by using that battery. Think of mAh as the capacity of the battery, a 1400 will last longer than a 600. Once it's an 8.4v thats all OK.

Are you sure you charged it for long enough.

    Thanks for that Captain Chaos
I know the story with the batteries, but I have another battery from my first AEG (BoyI M4) that I know is fully charged so I tried it....nothing. I'm kind of worried because I got it from ehobby so to send it back will be a beeeotch

I've sent off an email to ehobby customer service so I'll hear back on Monday some time.
Has this happened to anybody before and if so, what was done with the shipping?
What would a supposedly faulty MP5a5 go for (just checked the anpost.ie site....68eur to HK...hmmmm???)

On a lighter note, I'll be back in Dublin soon for college so I'll be at HRTA asap when I get up. Looking forward to this all summer, just a pity 'bout the AEG

See ye soon (probably cowering in a corner after being pinned down by a springer!!! :D)

Faulty fuse could be it. Check that first. Replace if necessary.

did the aeg actually fire and then die? or is it just making a slight sound, like the motor is trying to turn but its jammed?

If it is jammed, dont hold the trigger in the hope it will eventually fire, you'll strip the gears. if it's making absolutely no sound, try the fuse like Lethal said, after that it could be wiring or any number of other things

You can share. You got to fix that jammed AEG at HRTA today, Davvowl can take the next one :p

actually i didnt fix it, for some bizarre reason, where there should be a screw to remove the mag release, there seems to be a pin of some sort with no obvious way to remove it, so i couldnt get the gearbox out, bit puzzled by that as every other m4 has the screw-in mag release button

dont wana steal anyone's job, its just i enjoy having my hands full of gear grease just as much as skirmishing itself, sorry i cant help it :p

reluctant pin you say ? ill be happy to have a look at that - i think i have just whats needed to push the little bastard

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,414 ✭✭✭kdouglas

that's exactly the problem, it cant be pushed, if you have an m4/m16 or similar handy, look at the mag release button, there's a screw in the middle to take it out, this looked like a pin/rivet of some kind, only thing i can think of is drill it out and then replace it with a screw

davvowl- I'm actually in Clare at the moment...I'm back to college in October so I won't be there until then, so if anyone's around Limerick city centre within the next 3 weeks, that would be fantastic

    OK, so a quick update...
1-The fuse seems to be OK
If it were faulty, where would I get another?
2-There was no sound out of the AEG at all when I put in two batteries and tested, so It's not a jam

    heh, october's just 2 weeks away :)

i really dont think your problem is battery related
can you please describe the "slight sound for a second" you are talking about in your first post ? and did you feel anything in the firing hand ? (thats where the motor is)

    Thanks davvowl,
There was absolutely no sound now that I think back (probably my imagination). There is no movement/sound/vibration out of the motor when the trigger is pulled.
I should be in Dublin next Sunday the 30TH Sept for the day so if you want to meet up to get this repaired, that would be fantastic.
I can PM you my contact details if you want.
