With the upcoming milkrounds and the summer/September time being when results are out and pay reviews carried out I'm wondering what the current state of play is for:

    Juniors: Sitting Prof 2's /CAP 1 in 08
    Semi Seniors Sitting Prof 3's / CAP2 in 08
And Seniors sitting FAE in 08.

    Cheers.

Those stats are available from the ICAI

    Really?

Can you post me a link? I don't think they are available from the institute because the big four seem very secretive and at the graduate recruitment ppl i've spoken to they say that they are "competitive and at the top end of the market." I doubt very much they are available from the ICAI. I'm talking about the big four actualy salaries as opposed to the increments the institute recommends for passing each set of exams.

In all fairness i think it's a reasonable thing to ask of a prospective employer as to what the potential and likely earnings are during the next four years so that it can be compared to what's available elsewhere like a bank or fund accounting.

I'll give you ballpark for this years people - open to correction

    Juniors: Sitting Prof 2's /CAP 1 in 08 24k yr0-1
    Semi Seniors Sitting Prof 3's / CAP2 in 08 28.5k yr1-2
And Seniors sitting FAE in 08. 35k yr2-3
Then yr3-4 after qualification, depends on different circumstances ~ 45k

    Cheers that's a big help.

Yeah i'd heard that in PWC juniors were on 24.5 and semi's on 28.5 but didn't know about any others.

    Thanks for your help

PWC (TLS anyway) are paying 24.0 for that as well. I think it's only if you have the M.Acc that first year salary is slightly higher.

jesus thats not great really especially when teachers get 33 startin these days. dont clearical officer in the civil service without even a leaving and college degree get 22 startin now. mind boggles.

so if you take one of the big 4 your going to be still only on about 40k after 4 years right?

PwC AM2's are on a basic of €57k plus overtime.

AM2 is a 2nd year assistant manager so that would be a year after your training contract ie 4 years with them

I'm only half way through ACCA at the moment. Have two years experience in industry and have just signed a contract for 42k.

If you look around properly and are in industry rather than practice you'll get good money
