    Hi Guys,
I would like to post something positive:D
After waiting 2 weeks for Eircom to activate my line & not even receiving a contract in the mean time, I was a bit frustrated. I rang Fastcom up.
They said it takes about 2 weeks to get it installed.
They arrived 2 days after I signed the contract.
    Local customer service.
I talked to one of the tech guys, he have Voip software installed in most of there transmission stations.
Which means they have QOS set up for all Voip providers.
    I think this is BRILLENT.
I just tested blueface & it is crystal clear.
12 month contract . If you decide to move house they will move the antenna to your new house if its in coverage for a modest €100.

I would recommend these guys , very professional.

I am not affiliated with www.fastcom.ie
I'm just a very happy customer.

I think its important to have some positive feedback on this forum because there can be alot of negative.

I have this broadband and it is muck. Do not go near fastcom. I have yet to go a day with ping spikes of 400-500.

    Hi,

I'm considering getting fastcom broadband and was wondering about speed and quality. I had bad experiences with wireless broadband in Dublin (clearwire). Any feedback on the service would be appreciated.

Are there other fastcom users here? What is the speed and quality like? Is it reliable enough to use skype and skype video? Does quality vary from day to day or at different times of the day? Does quality vary depending on where you're located?

    Cheers,

    -Aidan

Its most certainly better than Clearwire becasuse Clearwire is rubbish.

The first post in this thread , OTOH, is the only unreserved recommendation for Fastcom that I can recall seeing on this board ...but it could be true.

Since having it just under a month. I'm quite happy with it. Its 2 megs up & down. But because its wireless your only going to get 1.5 up/down on average.
For me I'm perfectly happy with 1.5 megs downloads . I like having the 1.5 upload . THis suits me. I run blueface over the internet. It seems good. Sometimes it might get distorted .
Go in & have a chat with the guys in fastcom . They know there stuff. Make sure you are put on a mast which has voip software installed on it. THis software enables QOS for Voip /skype. THis is needed for stable conversations. THe guys in fastcom will explain it to you .
Digiweb do wirelass as well, but there contention ratio is 48:1 .fastcom 24:1

    my 2 cent

fastcom are rubbish. slow and unreliable, I've had nothing but trouble for 2 months and there supoort has only been able to improve my connection for a couple of hours before it goes back to being useless.

That is cack talk my man........there is no reason for a wireless provider not to give the advertised speed.

I am with Westnet in Mayo and get my advertised speed, all day, every day, with the lowest pings I have seen outside of a fiber connection.
