Villain is 29/25/3 over about 2.3k hands.
We have a lot of history of battling, well a session a while back I beat up on him pretty badly, by 3betting, 4betting and floating him a lot.
This session I have 3bet him pretty much everytime he opened in LP on two tables, once is button on blind, the other is CO vs button where I am the latter in each case. He's folded everytime pretty much except maybe once or twice where he called and folded the flops.
He's capable of floating but in general I don't rate his postflop game too much. He is a winner at 2/4 though. My view is he will bet a lot of his weak hands for protection on this turn and I would expect him to raise a lot of his stronger hands on this flop.
FWIW I 3bet with the intention of 5betting over any 4bet from him.

Noble Poker 2.00/4.00, hand converted by the iPoker Converter at Talking-Poker

As played what were you hoping to represent? Over pair or a set?

I think it is important that we define what we are trying to represent when putting in such a bluff. A move has to make correct sense to the opponent, especially with history between 2 players.

This is the first time he's shown any resistance post flop. Why not give up? He must be pretty awful for you to be so convinced he'll fold here. It looks awful to me but I can't say I haven't tried the same myself once or twice.

You guys do know poker is all about winning every pot? I had to try and win it.
EDIT: I'm trying to represent a big hand, like TT or KK+
EXTRA-EDIT: I also have him down as an occasional floater and I think he bets all of his floating range on the turn. That includes weak pairs and AQ-type hands imo.

would you check the turn with an overpair here?
I think his turn bet sucks unless he's instacalling a shove with whatever he has.

Your line looks incredibly strong. You'll get him to fold a whole load of pairs, but not sets or AA, so.. factoring in his stats, I like it

Well capable of checking turn with AA/KK and stuff, as well as flopped sets had i raised him very lightly

Your line looks like a set, A-A or K-K, i like it, he folds most one pair hands here

If your into those 171 bb bluffs that is....

You have been bashing a guy all night, so when he shows resistance in a biggish pot, I think trying to bluff him is v. risky.

If I was facing you I doubt I would fold any pair in any situation

I think this is a good point. My general feelings in spots like this when I'm playing opponents that I feel I have been pushing about is that they are more likely to try taking a stand by pulling off a bluff than they are by trapping with something. Thats what I felt in this case vs this opponent anyway.

Also I don't mind if its risky. Thats what makes poker fun!

And lastly he still has no real reason to think I'm pulling a bluff here a lot of the time even if he feels bullied, this would be a great spot for me to play a huge hand strongly expecting him to call lighter. As I mentioned before he is a winner so he is a thinking player to some extent. I figured he was bad enough to bet/fold hands like JJ and even maybe QQ here.

well obv if he bet folds virtually everything that beats you (other than sets) then its a super play.

    Did he?

Well I felt he would bet/fold a lot at the time, but sometimes I get those feelings wrong. I was right this time though, he folded.
