Hi all, this is my first hand post.

Ignoring the pre-flop limp("mixing up my play" :p) what line would you take here? I'll post the start of the hand first and reveal it in parts.

    BB is 11/8/13(!)/123

    Button is a muppet 71/20/2/184

He's playing nearly every hand calling 4xBB raises with feck all and hitting every flop. Hence the stack. Probably has me tilting a bit.

    I'm 24/14/2

Green Joker Poker 0.10/0.20, hand converted by the iPoker Converter at Talking-Poker

    saw flop | saw showdown

    Button Button ($52.14)
    SB SB ($49.85)
    BB BB ($18.00)
    UTG ($32.90)
    UTG+1 ($24.43)
    CO Hero ($16.69)

Preflop: Hero is in the CO with 9diamond.gif Adiamond.gif
2 folds, Hero calls 0.20, Button calls 0.20, SB calls 0.10, BB checks.

    Flop (0.80) 4diamond.gif 8diamond.gif 4heart.gif
SB checks, BB bets 0.80, Hero?

Ahh! You!! I was at the table for this hand. I'd flat call the flop. I find that it's useless playing draws strongly against idiots that won't give up top pair. You'll more than likely get paid off if you hit anyhow.

raise PF. Generally when the idiots bet strongish they have the goods though I've found... (to my detriment).

There is absolutely no need to "mix up" your play at 20NL. Play straightforward TAG, particularly on IPoker.

I call, don't want to get 3-bet by a 4 if BB actually has one, and more importantly I want to keep the moron in the hand

Would you pay any regard to the fact that you may be drawing dead?

    Yes, but I still call

One of the reasons i didn't raise is A9s isn't a great hand but not a hand I want to throw away and Button would call a raise with ATC. I had been raising with high cards, the flops were coming low. I'd continuation bet, get called by donk, miss the turn. He had prob something hit with his low cards and there's no way he'd lay down a pair so he was unbluffable.

So i felt I could stack him if I hit my flush and he hit say a pair, but wanted to see a flop cheaply as I had been losing money raising.

    Button Button ($52.14)
    SB SB ($49.85)
    BB BB ($18.00)
    UTG ($32.90)
    UTG+1 ($24.43)
    CO Hero ($16.69)

Preflop: Hero is in the CO with 9diamond.gif Adiamond.gif
2 folds, Hero calls 0.20, Button calls 0.20, SB calls 0.10, BB checks.

    Flop (0.80) 4diamond.gif 8diamond.gif 4heart.gif
SB checks, BB bets 0.80, Hero raises to 3.00, Button calls 3.00, 2 folds.

    Turn (7.60) Theart.gif

    Action?

check hoping to get a free card, looks like he will call any bet. I wouldnt have raised the flop

    check

Don't like the flop raise, you're building a big pot OOP against a guy that won't lay down a hand, and you've got nothing (yet). A bet of half the pot would probably give you the right implied odds if you're called, and fold to a raise.

EDIT: maybe a check and call with the right odds is better.

Do you mean you used this info as a reason for your play?

I realise it's not a v good reason but it's what had happened in the previous few hands I played, and it affected my decision...

I know. But I don't understand how we can consider this. At most if we had a low flush then we can consider a higher one, but to cast doubt in your mind over something so unlikely to happen seems foolish. If we hit our flush here we're winning so much more than we're losing for it be a factor imo.

Check-fold the turn unless he bets really small

Yeah you're right, just thinking out loud, it is in fact a 3%-er at the flop. Would be interested to run in through pokerstove to see what your equity would be by a showdown vs. 2 opponents is.

    I did check...

    Button Button ($52.14)
    SB SB ($49.85)
    BB BB ($18.00)
    UTG ($32.90)
    UTG+1 ($24.43)
    CO Hero ($16.69)

Preflop: Hero is in the CO with 9diamond.gif Adiamond.gif
2 folds, Hero calls 0.20, Button calls 0.20, SB calls 0.10, BB checks.

    Flop (0.80) 4diamond.gif 8diamond.gif 4heart.gif
SB checks, BB bets 0.80, Hero raises to 3.00, Button calls 3.00, 2 folds.

    Turn (7.60) Theart.gif
Hero checks, Button bets 4.20, Hero moves all-in for 13.49, Button calls 9.29.

    River (34.58) Aheart.gif

    Hero shows 9diamond.gif Adiamond.gif
    Button shows 6spade.gif 4spade.gif

Button wins 34.58 with Three of a kind, Four's

    and then donked it :o

I thought about folding and decided eff it, it'll be worth it if I hit (tiltymonkey)

    raise preflop. fold the turn

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,327 ✭✭✭NeoSlicerZ

C/f turn, you have absolutely no fold equity vs this guy.
