Krakow. Its certainly a more interesting place at that time of year. Can be cold though

Just back from Krakow in the last 2 days, but I spend a total of 1 day there sightseeing. The nightlife by all accounts is great. You'd enjoy it!

Krakow , nicer , cheaper and not as seedy or as packed as Prague

Loved both places, but Prague is suffering from Temple Bar Syndrome.

Krakow is a great spot, lots of sights and great night-life. I love the 'no-kebabs' signs on pub / club doors.

Also you can visit the haunting Auchzwitz nearby.

Gonna be in a minority of one here and vote for Prague. The later you go in October, the quieter it will be. It will also be a lot less seedy than summer. Keep away from Irish bars and obvious tourist rip off joints and it's really cheap - more so than Krakow was when I was there.
