Hi, i have an 80 gig hard drive that i bought an enclosure for so i could have it plugged into my 360 for music purposes. for it to show up on the 360 it has to be fat32 and set to master on jumper settings. the thing is though when it's set to master it says the size of it is only 32 gig and that it needs formatting, even though i formatted when it was set to slave/cable select and it said then the size was 75 gig. What am i doing wrong? i feel like a dumbass!

    Try reformatting using swiffknife

i've tried the formatting approach a couple of times with partition manager already, is that app you mentioned gonna make a difference? it's says 75 gig now on cable select setting but as soon as i put it back to master it'll say 32 gig again...

Many drives of that vintage have a 32GB clip jumper for installation in systems that can't handle more. Are you sure you're jumpering the MASTER pins and not 32GB CLIP by mistake?

Just cracked it open to have a look. the jumper options are in this link http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/storage/7j379/jumpers.htm

Any suggestions? it seems pretty straight forward

Just noticed there that one of the power connector pins is missing from inside right (near the jumper pins) should it still be working even?
