Villain is solid thinking TAG 18/14/3. We've played quite a lot, and he's aware I'm decent (I hope lol), and that I'm multitabling. I'm around 23/18/4 or so at the time of the hand.
    Opinions?

    Blinds: $3/$6

    Stack sizes:
    UTG: $967.95
    UTG+1: $662.25
    CO: $711
    Van Dice: $899.40
    SB: $586.50
    BB: $815

Pre-flop: (6 players) Van Dice is Button with Th 9h
UTG folds, UTG+1 calls, CO calls, Van Dice calls, SB calls, BB raises to $33, UTG+1 calls, CO folds, Van Dice calls, SB calls.

    Flop: 2c 8d 4s ($138, 4 players)
SB checks, BB bets $111, UTG+1 folds, Van Dice raises to $299

not really sure what your asking here . . .

it depends alot on how much he Cbets. with no information i dont like this at all.
if he is as tight as your stats read, then you shouldnt re-raise here, even if it worked in the end.

your not representing much of a hand with your button limp.

all in all, there has to be better spots than this

i like it as your representing 22/44. I still think there's a big chance he shoves KK/AA over the top though.

why would he re-raise with a set, on a rainbow board with no draws??

i think thats what he means when he says he knows that i know

i prefer to make a big bluff on the turn, you'll have a little more of an idea of how strong he is by then. it might mean a bigger bet and more risk but i think it's a stronger line. flat calling a raise on a flop like that is pretty strong in the first place. wouldn't you normally open the pot with 44 or 22 preflop though? if the guy knows you well he might be suspicious of that.

hate it. He is betting into a field, so I hate it.

+1 - out of interest whats your move van dice on the turn if he flat calls your flop re-raise?

Why you think he has 88? I think his hand looks clearly like an overpair which 90% of people will lead into a field on a dry board like that.

BTW I raise that preflop like always.

I think his hand looks like an overpair too but I think trying to make people fold OP's sucks

Yeah this is terrible. If you were about 2 buyins deeper I would prefer it.

i've done some crazy sh*t in my day, but this takes the biscuit. There's about a million reasons why this is puke.

is this one of those hands that you are him...?? i hope so

My thoughts were that his hand is obviously an overpair, villain is good hand-reader though, and my range here basically looks like 44/22/bluff, of which a bluff would be rare. Since his hand is clear, from his point of view why would I raise against such a tight range without a monster? And I thought that my line reps the two small sets pretty closely. I need him to fold a little bit over half the time, which judging from replies looks like he probably doesn't.
Looking back I wasn't sure if I liked it or not, hence the post obv.

I almost always would but I'd been doing it a lot

lol thx. Actually I think I should have posted it from villain's perspective to see how strong my line looks without bias

As you said you need him to fold a little over half the time, and I think whether or not he does this is really mostly a question only you can answer. Can he fold overpairs 150 bb deep on a board like this?Is it worth trying to make him? Does he think you would play a set this way? If you are unsure about the answer to these then it is probably not a good move imo

On the plus side he will pay you off next time you hit set/random 2 pair v op 150 bb deep

Also worth noting that the presence of sb,while not a major deal, does affect your expectation a little

Whats your plan if he calls here and checks the turn?
Its a good bet in a way I think cause it suggests you want to play for stacks and puts him to a real decision oop.

Sometimes villians don't think what you want them to think though - I don't think I'd be at the level of thinking to try this move - or have the required testicles
