Question that came up in home game.
The question in its original context was of little interest but it lead me to a question that has more meaning. This situation has occured to me and i have put quite a deal of thought into it but have not completely got my head around it.

If you have a stake in a player in the same tournie/game as you, how does it effect your play against him/her?

Actual situation was very trivial but the line of thought comes from
    1) A tournie in which i put in another player who was broke. I ended up folding a big hand to him late in the tournie when not certain of how good i was as i also factored in the profit i would make if he cashed big.
    2) Regularly seeing and hearing of players getting staked.

Would this effect EV calculations and how much?

Unless you have 100% of the player, and that player is considerably better than you, you shouldn't let it alter your thinking.

you should play the same as you would if you weren't staking him. Otherwise you are cheating. If you can't do this you shouldn't be staking him in the first place.

I've staked players and been staked in games with that person and it hasnt affected my play. I just get p!ssed when they keep stealing my blinds  ;)

Its not uncommon for players to regularly take 10% and 20% of each other in games but its every man for himself when it comes down to it
