My boyfriends 30th birthday is on Monday. I thought i might get the ipod touch as a gift but being a last minute merchant i now find it impossible to find one. I'm not sure whether they're even in the country yet. Does anyone know if there is any avenue i can try, legal or not ;) that doesn't involve a waiting list with apple store.

    Move to PMP

You can order now from the Apple store online but they are not due to ship until the end of the month. I doubt you would have one for the 30th Sept. But its a nice gift idea and I reckon it would be worth asking him to hang on a week or so to get his hands on it.

Yep, I would be quite happy to wait a week or two for an ipod touch. :)

nothing you can do but pre-order from the Apple website, just pre-order it, and print of the order confo and stick it in a card;)

    Nice thinking ;)

I tried out one in the apple store on saturday and have to say im not often impressed but i was blown away by it. Very impressive and was browsing the net with it wifi thing and it was excellent. The touch screen would take a bit of getting used to but what doesn't. He will love it.

I'd avoid ordering from the Apple and wait till they appeared in a brick and mortar store (one with a good return policy). Apple's own forum and various gadget sites are flooded with complaints relating to defective, poor quality screens.

Wise words. There is often a bedding in stage with new technology like this so it’s best to let the kinks be ironed out then buy once thing have settled down.
Requires patience which everyone doesn’t have.
