    Hi Lads,

Has anyone bought any clubs in from the UK? My boss has won an EBay item, a 3 wood, and the seller is looking for 29 pounds sterling p&p!

I'm googling away here and can't find anything to suggest this is or isn't the going rate for p&p. Surely it's miles to dear and has anyone any links to cheaper delivery companies or anything we can send back to the guy as a "here's a cheaper example"...?

    All help apprectiated!

Enquired about postage from the UK on ebay a few months ago. £30 to post a used vokey wedge.I think not!

I've been caught out on ebay once before: Always ask about the cost of postage before bidding....

Bought a set of irons on Monday from the UK on e-bay and the postage costs were £23 for delivery via courier. Expected this as its for 8 clubs and I had asked for a guide price before I committed to the purchase so I think that asking for that sort of money for a single club is a rip off.

By the way - saved myself nearly €200 doing this even including the postage costs.

yeah always ask first, if you just ask when you win the item, they can say whatever price they want.
i've bought loads of clubs over ebay and it just depends on the seller, some are just looking to rip people off.
But if you go onto the royal mail website, there is a postage calculator. the problem is, it shows the postal costs as very dear. when you go to the post office, its always cheaper.
so this can be a reason why they quote very high prices.

Most of the big UK online retailers charge £10 shipping to Ireland. I've seen some crazy shipping fees on ebay though - you just have to be careful and check before you bid.

That sounds very expensive. I got a driver sent over a few months back and it only cost me 5 pounds and a few pence.

Sending it back is much dearer. I sold a 3-wood on ebay and when i went to send it over to the guy in london, an post charged me almost 18 euro (even though it was the same weight and in the same box as the one that had been sent to me from the UK for around half the price).

Some sellers have a "sellers standard rate" price for their postage, which can be very expensive, but if they had flagged the price before your mate bought the item then he can't really complain.

Alot of sellers often entice you in with low prices and make their money off the postage.
