Started last week. Great scrap last night! Anyone watching this? They've got rid of all the hollywood stuff in the fights and are just showing the full fights now.

I turned on ITV 4 by accident last night and saw the end of the 2006 season I'm thinking. Forbes was beaten in the final by Grady Brewer.
I must say I was very impressed with the standard. Real hard tough fights.
Are these guys all ex boxers. I have to do some research on the programme as all I know is that Manfredo who was beaten in the 2005 season then went on to be whupped by Calzaghe

I will definitely be taking a keen interset on this season.

Ok, been doin' some research. The guys all boxed PRO from what I have read.
Stewart, NO JOKE Stewart was beat by Hatton in 5 rds in 2004. Stewart was in the second season. Saw him fight last night, re-run, and he scored a great KO over Ebo Elder...

When is the next episode on guys??

Bren there pro boxers that are not top level, trying to build there way up, bernard dunne was asked to go on it a couple of years ago and declined.

Paul...they are very talented guys. It's hard to believe isn't it, that they are not the cream of the crop. It just goes to show the level of talent at the top of the sport...

Dunne did right NOT to go on it. I think he would never have made it...

Big Ears

This season has the best set of fighters yet , including the likes of Sam Soliman and Sakio Bika .

They're focusing more on the boxing side now and less on the crying/I love my family and I'm doing this for them stuff .

Not all the fights will be shown in full on the programme(the fights are showed in full a little while later on ESPN) , any that last more than 2/3 rounds will be highlights of the fight rather than the full thing . They've taken away the sound effects and the only edit they really make to the fights now(other than shortening one that are too long) is slow motion before the real big punches .

Should be a very interesting season and my money is on one of the two Aussies .

Sam Solomon comes across as a generally nice guy. I remember watching him fight a couple of years back. Did anyone catch last night's episode? (3) I'm trying not to discuss the outcome incase I spoil it for those who are yet to see it. The production as big ears mentioned is much better this time, more focus on the fights than the sound effects.. Id put my money on Paul Smith or Bika to take it.. But we will see.

Guys, tonight at 21:30 on ITV4 is the Contender series episode 3 I think.
There were two episodes on earlier today which I missed.
I accidentally came across the results of both episodes, both fights.
Ah well, I'll still enjoy the show...

The semi finals are set. Soilman V Bika and Johnsen V Codrington.

I think Bika and Codrington will progress.
Soliman has a win over Bika already, from
their bout in 2002. It was a split
decision win. Sam is 33 now and I think
Bika has an edge. He's 28 and stronger I would
imagine than he was in 2002...

Johnsen IMO is too negative and he hasn't the speed and
skills to outbox Codrington. Codrington by decision in a
technical fight...

Liverpool's Paul Smith had a close win over David Banks
in the most recent episode. He was IMO a little
lucky to get the decision and because the fight
was so close, he was eliminated. He also was injured and
would NOT have been able to fight, had he progressed...

I'm certain Bika and Codrington will win , as for who would win between those two , I'll comment after the semi-finals(should they both be there;) ).

Yeah, I think Bika and Codrington will go through too. Both looked really impressive in their fights.

Well it's over and I won't say who won, but I accidentally came across the result of te final bout...
Bika and Codrington made the final....let's wait until Sunday

Saw the fight today - Won't say anything, but it was a CRACKER of a fight. One of the most action packed fights of the year for sure.
