Has anyone stopped sky system for alternative system?

    Folks,

I have been a sky customer since the Premiership soccer started and thats a lot of money down the drain and still my team haven't won it!

I think sky soccer coverage is good but everything else is crap.

My kids are also now spending too much time in front of the box watching endless hours of Simpsons with the help of Skyplus.

I am seriously thinking of getting rid of Sky as i think it's bad value for money and would love to know has anyone out there been in my situation and gone from sky to use an alternative satellite system?

I don't know anyone locally who has an alternative satellite system and this makes it a bit of a gamble putting a lot of cash into an alteranative system (mainly to watch some football).

    Any advice appreciated

digitalb @ 16E + technomate 1500, you will probably need bigger dish (80cm), sky dish can still do fta, bbc, itv etc.

Depending on what part of the country you are in, you may need to go for a 1m dish. I can get it close to 80% on an 80 dish here in Waterford City.

I'm in midlands, have plenty of space for big dish.

Is it not a pin listening to all the foreign languages as opposed to English?

Many of the stations like Digitalb and Premiere still carry English audio. If a game is broadcast without English I will often pick up 5 Live commentary on another receiver.

i have the digitalb package. I find it pretty good alright. I have 80cm dish here in galway , No problems so far. you can get six month packages also. You could try that, to see if you like it or not.

Yeah, I've Digitalb also, though an 80cm only worked in good weather. Bit of rain, and the picture starts blocking. I've 1.1m dish now, and massive improvements! Plus I managed to get 13E, 16E and 19E multi LNB setup to work, not possilbe on the 80cm due to the LNB's being too close together.

English soccer does have English commentary, however something it does seem to lack is after match analysis or manager interviews, etc. However, if you're not that bothered about the after match shenanigans, it's great.

I'll post an image soon, when I get the pic uploaded to my hosting, as boards doesn't allow big attachments
