As per the title. I'm a good few years using SQL, so I am reasonably proficient, but I am looking for a book that will make me into an expert. I'm particularly interested in tuning/tweaking SQL to make it more efficient.

I'm using Oracle 10g at the moment.

    Any recommendations?

Optimizing Oracle Performance by Cary Millsap is the classic. i found it very readable and his performance tuning philosophy is applicable to other software systems. A lot of perf. tuning is voodoo bull**** so beware.

You need to write decent SQL before you start tuning. Premature optimization is the root of all evil and all that stuff.
