Its a night where I always get asked to work, and will always refuse. I remember working at a JC results party in the Point a good few years age.. it resembled a very badly produced porn film :(

I think we pulled 23 or 24 kids from the crowd who'd collapsed from drink, drugs or dehydration. Bloody awful.

When it gets to JC results time for my own, I reckon we'll take a trip away somewhere as a celebration and so that the kid doesn't feel pressurised into going out and gettin shitfaced. Sure you can say that you trust your kid, but even the most trustworthy of kids can bend under the intense pressure that seems to happen around this night.

I really don't get it. 3 years ago, I just went out for a meal with the parents, then to a movie with mates. Why the drinking?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,571 ✭✭✭✭Frisbee

I used to work in A+E on the reception. Best night of the year messing with their heads and threatening to call their parents... :P

    Oh fuck.

I'm doing first aid at the disco in the show center. Why did I put my name down?! This will be a nightmare. Oh God. Bloody drunken kids!

    Baumount you'd better make way!

    OH GOD

It's horrible and depressing and disturbing. And the only reason for this outrageousness is to be "cool" and see how they can out-do each other. Things were bad when I did my JC in 1994. I shudder to think how much worse it's become in the intervening 13 years.

heh ... I'm working on reception in A&E tonight. Going to be a messy one, but apparently its not been as bad for the past couple of years. Still though, I fully expect to see at least 10 people collapsed from drink (3 of whom will be "dead", according to their tearful, wailing friends) and at least 2 people who have fallen in the river, after drinking beside the river all day...

they don't pump them anymore I think, have seen people come in comatose and they just hook them up to a saline drip and let them work it out of their system. also, no painkillers if ya have drink on ya, so don't fall over. and if you wake up in a nappy, that means ya pissed yerself during the night. be proud.

tbh, if they are going on the lash for JC night they've been at it for ages before that. myself and 90% of kids from school started going on the knack at 13, its probably younger now. parents, how many times has your son/daughter asked you could they stay over in their mates house because they're "watching a dvd" lol.

I did nothing for my JC 4 years ago! Mainly because at the time there was only one club that did JC results night and it was a good bit outside town and no one really went to it. Most of my friends just went knacker drinkin

Dont worry I made up for it on the LC result night last year :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,919 ✭✭✭Schism

I didn't realise it was such a big thing, the JC results. I remember my maths teacher telling me the JC was a load of **** when I went into 5th year.

Did Parker Browns in Dundrum have a JC night? You should have seen the gang of them hanging around Dundrum SC, kids pasted in makeup, fake tanned and skirts up their arses. Its funny how much older the girls look at that age, the boys, well just looked like boys.

In Cork this young fella started this big fight near Brown Thomas. It took 4 officers to keep him down and even then he was able to repeatedly punch one of them in the face! Then he was all weird-acting and just went into comatose. They couldnt wake him.His girlfriend(i think) was screaming at the people who were involved in the fight. She then fainted and collapsed next to him.Her eyes all white!!! Took the ambulance a long time to get to them. His parents then arrived crying and screaming at the police.By this time there was over 100 people watching. The girl came to but the boy was taken to hospital.

What a great advertisement of Ireland for tourists.....

yea there was a JC night there alrite. There was meant to have been a big fight outside afterward, people boxing guards, guards boxing people.

It was a busy night all right. Baumont was full to the brim, there were no beds and enormous waiting times. Our ambulances were held up for about an hour each time. We had 5 runs to hospital, but the rest were just overly drunk and we had to mind them til they got better. One or two punches thrown around but nothing too major.

One poor lad was brought into us as the disco started, off his face on vodka, and was with us all night until it finished - he didn't even get inside. Great way to spend €50  :D
