    Hi.
I just can't find dates/timetables anywhere on DCUs sites.

I understand that the actual timetables aren't out yet, but at least roughly, when do the terms end/begin? I'm hoping to get away sometime in December and would like to book the flights now. Are there exams in January?

Also, while I'm at it, when is Fresher's week? How am I supposed to find out about stuff like this?

    I'm doing a one-year taught postgrad.
    Thanks.

Is there any orientation for postgrads normally?? I know we're meant to be starting classes on the 24th but I just feel like we're being thrown in the deep end! We haven't even been sent any info about timetables or anything, I just happened to see it (which I'm presuming is the right one) go up on the site myself. Haven't a clue what the rooms are or anything like that :-s

I was in the same boat myself, lucky enough a friend of mine brought me around the campus on Tuesday, otherwise I would be totally lost come Monday morning:p I think it is a bit "irish" of DCU to just expect post graduates to find their own way.

You know what they say you only get one chance to make a good impression and DCU have well and truely screwed that up in my case:(

    from DCU mail:
Student Diaries & Planners: This year each first year undergraduate and
postgraduate student will receive a Student Diary which is both an
academic calendar and also a reference guide to all student support
services in the University. They will not be receiving the traditional
Student Handbook as the Diary replaces this. The 'hope' is that the
students will use the diaries and have the 'reference' material to hand
    when/if needed.
DCU Rules, Regulations & General Welfare Information Booklet: Students
will receive a booklet which provides information about the Code of
Discipline, Examination Regulations, Library Regulations, Parking,
Safety on Campus etc. This is more a 'reference guide' which we hope
they will store safely at home.
In the past (as far as I understand) postgraduate students did not
receive any information about Student Support Services at DCU -
hopefully this will go some way towards filling this gap. We will look
into a postgraduate orientation (non-academic) for next year.

so they are working on it, but I agree it's pretty crap for now...

I totally agree with this (and the other postgrads' opinions here). Today is Wednesday and I still don't know where I'm supposed to go on Monday, or what time I'm supposed to be there at.
It does all seem a bit 'irish'. Annoying though that they couldn't have incorporated the orientation etc for first year undergrads for first year postgrads as well. *sad*

no (staff e-mail) and sorry, no idea but if you do happen to ask someone in student affairs I'm sure they have plenty of copies and/or can tell you when/where you shall get one.
