cd/dvd drive not responding

    hi
    it was wrking fine up untill last nite, then just woludnt respond to disc, i try,d system restore but no joy,

    then i try'd to up date the driver and the icon in my computer was dvd rom, when i updated it went to dvd drive, i van hear the cd spining inside but but burning software says no disc, and when i go to watch a dvd it doesnt play either, any ideas??

    im thinking i deleted something

    More than likely the drive is knackered.
    Are cd's and dvd's affected or is it only one or the other??

    no its all discs, if the drives knackerd any ideas how to solve it

    Might just be the driver.. try this first..

    Go into the device manager:

    right click my computer ... properties ... hardware (tab up the top) ... Device Manager.

    Find your DVD/CD Rom and double click! Click Driver tab. Try 'roll back driver' ... or try update driver.
