Laptop memory problem

One of my memory sticks in laptop was faulty so ordered 2X512mb memory from komplett.It arrived today so I put it in my laptop.Turned on laptop the lights came on but nothing on screen not even bios.So decided to take out one of the sticks and the lappy worked fine.Then put that stick where the other was working and it…

How old is the laptop and what is the make and model number?
