I've a 42" Samsung LCD TV (one of those swivel ones) that i'm using as a monitor through VGA, but no matter what iteration of the Phono sockets i use, i can't seem to get sound into it from my sound card out put on my computer.

    Any ideas?

dont know about the samsung but there usually is a 3.5mm jack near the VGA input marked PC audio in, this connects to the PC's 3.5mm audio out port.

on some sets this has its own level control in the menu and has to be turned up or even on. other sets use the phono in (usually marked audio in) in which case you hace to use a 3.5mm stereo to 2 X Phono (RCA) lead. but you may have to turn down the volume on the PC to match the phono input (prevent distortion)

what i do is, put a 3.5mm jack into the headphone socket on your computer, and if possible into an audio in or into the aux in. but it might not work if u are not using s-video.

also, sometimes, as on my toshiba, the audio inputs for the vga input are shared with the hdmi input. this is for time when you're using something like a dvi to hsmi adapter, so you don't ahve the sound on the hdmi cable. Look through your menus and see if there is somewhere you can assign audio inputs to hdmi video inputs or vga inputs
