Selling on for parts...any value to be had?

I have an Acer laptop (Aspire 5650 series) which is about 16 months old now, but was close to top of the line when it was bought. I've been having a bizarre problem with the screen on it, however, which freezes the computer frequently. I have tried 4 different repair shops and none have been able to remedy this. The laptop was never treated badly, in fact it rarely left my apartment (and never does these days, as even slight movements can set off and exacerbate the problem). I am, however, totally sick of it, and instead of spending more time, money and effort on it, I just want to move on. What I'm wondering is whether there's any point looking to sell it on for parts. Is there much of a market for laptop parts, and can any decent amount of money generally be gotten? (obviously i know it depends on the spec, but if anyone knows in general, it would be great)

edit: bar the screen problem, all other parts are functioning properly.
edit 2: I'm not a computer expert by any means, so it may not be a problem with the screen, but with the graphics card or something

As sugarman said try an external monitor. I doubt its the screen, however, if the computer actually freezes completely, it sounds like it could be the video card, are you seeing any artifacting on screen (strange colors, bars, dots, that sort of thing).

If its definitely the video card then the laptop isn't worth much, as a laptop with a card soldered to the motherboard is uneconomical to repair if its damaged....You could sell the Hard Drive, optical drive, Ram, that sort of thing, but it wouldn't amount to more then 120-ish quid at best to be honest. Although if its the card then you could probably sell the screen too, for a reasonable amount.

You can technically open up the laptop and take out the processor too but I don't think you'd have a whole lot of success selling it.

A broken video card is the worst thing that can happen to a laptop.
