When does a race not have a tricast?

On Sunday last I did a €1 CTC on these selections at the 4.50 at Fontwell.

    1 (1) Cape Greko (|T J Murphy|) 4/1
    2 (4) Eldorado (|J E Moore|) 7/1
    3 (2) Salford City (|J M Maguire|) 4/6

I went to the counter to collect my winnings and I was told that this wasn't a TC race. However, she then told me 'we usually give back the stake but I'll pay you out the FC' (which was 30.56 - I think.) She paid out on a €1 FC by the way.

So I'm just wondering (for future reference) when does a race not include a TC, thanks! :)

I think it only handicaps with more than 8 runners but i am open to correction

    Ya, think thats right.

Caught out myself recently in a maiden and was also paid the FC, I think that is standard.

Slap the word "declared" between 8 and runners, and you have it spot on.

Depends on the company's rules. Majority pay the FC dividend.

Agreed. Has to be a handicap with 8 declared runners (or more obviously) - the 4.50 in Font last sunday was a Novices Hurdle. I like doing a CSF myself, its a brilliant bet because you can take 2 short priced horses and a longshot just in case and it could still come up.

Cheers lads will remember that in future. Although I'm sure I've thrown away plenty of CTC's which were actually void :o:(

Based on the fcat that you were paid then they would not have actually been void, you cannot have it both ways!!

I'm referring to the CTCs which I have done before and I got no winners up in a race which did not include a tricast!

Which would have been captured as CFCs and been losers not voids if that's how they always treat the situation.

I reckon they paid out the CFC as it was only a small stake. Had it been a big winner I'm sure I would have just got my stake back.
