The 18th is a great par 5, a dog leg right I could have went for it in two but I chickened…

Many people might not have heard much about golf in Cyprus but I was there a few months ago and its fairly good. APhrodite Hills is a great course, the 7th is some hole - a carry from one side of a valley to the other of about 130m. The 18th is a great par 5, a dog leg right I could have went for it in two but I chickened out, the water on the left frightened me - but I got a par!

There are two other courses Tsada and Secret Valley. Tsada has been renovated and has improved no end. The new 14th is a great hole, a driveable par 4 with O/B all down the left. the greens were in good condition.

As for Secret Valley, I was amazed at the transformation of the greens. I played there on holidays about 3 years ago and the greens were like the fairway but they were perfect when we played them in June.

In general the courses are relatively quiet and relaxing. Killester Travel are doing two trips during the winter but i got a flyer in the post recently from GMT Travel 01-2052004 and they have golf offers all year round starting from about €699 for 5 rounds, flights, car hire and accommodation.

Anybody else played golf in Cyprus, what did you think of it? I love the island if I could only convince my wife to up sticks from here!
