    Hi folks..
It annoys me to see this leaching from new houses, I brought it up in a recent conversation with my roofer and he tells me there is no way to guarentee it wont happen.
Does anyone know what causes this or how to avoid it happening...

    Cheers
    Bam

Has your roofer never heard of Patination oil? If the lead is up and has been rained on, it's too late.
Any roofer that doesn't use patination oil is probably a cowboy and likes to take shortcuts.

Its a natural reaction that happens to most metals, some worse than others. Its avoidably in lead with the use of an oil.
