    Hi,

    I'm moving abroad in a few months and I currently work as a trainer so i'm planning on a TEFL course and maybe travelling around teaching English for a few years which I know i'll love because I really do love teaching.

    Ive researched the many threads there is on the forum about the TEFL courses and found them a great help but the one thing they havent answered is the money aspect of it...

    What is pay like in other countries when teaching English??

    currently teaching EFL in Spain. Average wages are around €1200 a month. This is quite comfortable in the south where cost of living is lower than the north. In the south you can get accommodation in a shared flat for €200-€300 a month. In the north you're more likely to pay €400+ per month for the same accommodation.

    Chicks or chicas have a lot more chance of getting to share a flat too - so good luck if you're a chica ;)

    I was earning €9 an hour not so long ago in Andalucia but you should at least double if not triple that to get the relative cost of living compared to here. You should get a bit more than that now though. The trouble is you don't come back with much cash when you're teaching abroad.
