A diverse and exciting night of music is promised this Saturday as the last Problems at the Pancake House show for about two months takes place in Ryan’s, Friary St. We plan to go out in style as Us, Ponomica and the Supernova Scotia & Jazz Panda Colab take to the stage. After a long absence from the Kilkenny music scene, David Thompson finally returns along with cellist Jane Murphy under the new moniker of ‘Us’.

Having played with acts ranging from Dublin disco-heads Digital Circus to Ireland’s “indie queen” Nina Hynes, Thompson and Murphy have built up a strong following in the city and the pair promise an intimate, diverse and most of all fantastic performance for what promises to be a great night of music.

This will certainly be a performance to remember and you can listen to music from ‘Us’ here or at http://www.myspace.com/thompsondavidthompson.

    Ponomica

Problems at the Pancake House is delighted to present the debut of Cork three-piece Ponomica. Rising from the ashes of one of Ireland’s best bands, Waiting Room, Ponomica’s music defies a simple description. A fusion of beautiful guitar landscapes with delicate vocals, Ponomica’s debut is not to be missed.

Friday night will be the only time listeners will be able to get their hands on any of Ponomica’s recordings before their album is released early next year. Expect great things from this fantastic group and don’t miss the chance to see their very first performance here in our humble city.

Have a listen on our page or at http://myspace.com/ponomica

Supernova Scotia & Jazz Panda Colab

Due to an illness in the band, the Supernova Scotia & Jazz Panda Colab were unable to perform at the Dry County/Somadrone gig last week and will instead be playing this Friday.

Both regulars of the Problems at the Pancake House shows, and both featured on our recently released P.A.T.P.H. compilation E.P., Supernova Scotia's David Sheenan and Jazz Panda's Neil Quigley will be performing together for this exclusive collaboration with a brand new set of organic and electronic music.

As Hotpress wrote of our Showcase Night (Aug 18th):

"Instrumental combo Jazz Panda follow, promising to cool the venue to an ice-house with glacial guitar landscapes. Luckily, Supernova Scotia are on hand to heat things up a little, marrying fragile electronica to live drums to form a truly electrifying whole."

If any of their past performances are to go by, then this will be a performance not to be missed. We hope to have some of the sounds being created by the two up here at some stage but until then you have a look at http://www.myspace.com/supernovascotiaband and http://www.myspace.com/jazzpanda

Thanks again and hope to see you there!
