[REQ] Wireless Router

Looking for a basic wireless router for home, to use with the PC in the sitting room, and laptop in the bedroom.

Also, how can I form a wireless network between the two to transfer files? Is there a 2-in-1 piece of hardware for this?

Should I go to BT to get a router from them or will they rip me off? Or will they swap my existing one for a wireless?

edit: I'm actually not too sure what it is I need, I notice there's something called a "wireless access point" that you can buy too

edit2: oh and I'v a DS which I want to use the WiFi functions on too, if that makes any difference to the setup

(in retrospect it might be an idea to move this to the Wireless forum till I figure out what it is i'm looking for exactly)

for NTL, check it -> http://www.ntl.ie/internet/prices/
you can get wireless router for € 49.99. It's good price.

So for DSL (internet connection by LAN cable, with RJ-45 PLUG) you can buy:
    1. Linksys WRT54GS
    2. D-Link DIR-635 - with IEEE 802.11n (draft) and huge range :)

For ADSL & ADSL2 (internet connection by phone cable with RJ-11 PLUG) you can buy:
    1. Linksys WAG200G-EU
    2. D-Link DSL-G624T
But each one is more expensive then NTL offers.

Sorry, I thought they were just for NTL or something.

Is there any reason why I couldn't use something like this?

Because You also need modem ADSL. this router you have chosed is without modem so you can connect it only via RJ-45 (LAN) cable.

You can also connect your current ADSL modem to router, but i cant give you any guarantee that it will work correctly.

So the best way is pay little bit more and be sure that everything works fine.

For this moment, one of my friend uses this Linksys WAG200G-EU with smart broadband and Hi is very happy with it. It's really, good staff.
