I have a wirless adapter which can see my router but i cannot gain access to the internet. I borrowed a friends laptop with built in wireless card and that connected as soon as I switched on the laptop no problems.

I gained access previously through a cable modem, could there be a problem with the old settings? a conflict maybe?

My os is windows me, is there a compatibility problem?

    Any ideas?

Did your wireless adapter come with driver written for Windows ME? Have you tried installing the latest software for the adapter?
