    yup, its covered warrantly, its definitely a design flaw as it happened to my mate macbook pro a while ago. The charger was replaced free of charge.

    Happened to my MBP... I just brought my charger into my local reseller and they replaced it there and then, taking the serial number of the machine and keepting the faulty unit.

    Had bought it direct from Apple but had given goo custom to the reseller before, so they were happy to help out. If you ring Apple help they will replace it too. Send a new one out and ask you to return the fault unit, if the machine is in warranty. Chances are though, if you tell them what happened, subtly pointing out the danger of what happened, i reckon you will find they'll replace it even if it is out of warranty. IMHO

    i had my cable die recently somewhere between ashbourne and new york. got it replaced free at the apple store under applecare. my machine would also be about a year and a half.
