Hi, please forgive my ignorance..... but I think I'm using Linux at the moment. I'm using putty to access a website to check the logs. I can log in no problem, then I type in bash, no problem there, but if I accidentally type in an incomplete command I am stuck in limbo......

my question is how do you get back to the bash command prompt?

    Thanks in advance

This will send the job to the background. Try Ctrl-C to quit, or Ctrl-\ to force a quit.
