    Hi,

Myself and 4 mates are heading over to bratislava in a couple of months. In the middle of loooking for accomodation but reading a few dodgy stories on the net about the place. Tourists getting beaten and robbed and stuff...

Anybody experience this kind of thing over there or is a bit of bull??

Well, I wasn't attacked -- but I was there only on a day-trip. On the other hand, the Irish football team had a bad experience there.

Seriously, I participate in a couple of travel forums, and have not heard such stories. I gather that, apart from the old town and the castle area which is very nice and is pretty well all I saw, Bratislava is a bit grim -- concrete monstrosity stuff.

If you are thinking in terms of night-life and the party scene, that's not my turf. But people who travel for that in any country should know that it is an area where you need to be very streetwise and informed. Find a young Slovakian living near you and get advice.
