    Hi All

Just want to know if anybody has had any experience of a company called dalmac. They are a recruitment company for cabin crew for airlines. My GF's sister has just been offered a position in the training program. Thing is she dosent get paid for the 6 weeks of training and then has to pay €2000 at the end of the training to get certified which is then apparently paid back in installments over a 6 month period.

I've never heard of this company and am always wary of schemes like this were you have to pay them....

    Anybody got any more info?

To me it sounds like she'd end up working for ryanair.

The agency has been around for a few years so i don't think it's a scam. But as regards forking out €2k for the training, and not being paid during it, I'd want to be sure i had a job offer in writing saying something along the lines of, if i successfully complete the course and pay the €2k certification costs then i will be offered a job with xxx our client airline, at a rate of pay of €x per annum or per hour.

Have a look into the wages she'll get after qualifying. I don't think there's much money in it, between €10-€15 an hour which is pretty poor but then i'm going from hearsay. Feel free to talk to the agency and try to get something in writing.

Ask to speak to people who have completed the course reccently and find out where they're working.

The airlines, excluding scheduled operators like Aer lingus and ryanair, are highly seasonal and if the agency is training people for the charter business then she's unlikely to get a job until march or april 08 when most of the summer contracts kick in again. First choice, monarch, aviajet, etc don't have many flights in the winter but work hard all summer so ask who she's likely to be placed with, and when.
