External Repeat?

    Depending on tomorrow's repeat exam results, i will probably end up failing first year.

    Last year there was a guy who only showed up every now and again, and someone told me he was repeating externally.

    What exactly does it mean to repeat externally, or does such a thing exist?

    If it means not going to all my classes, i think i'd like to do it (can't really affoard not to work full time this year).
