does anyone know of when they will actually bring out some of the real famous games for the sega mega drive on the wii.
games like, mortal kombat and micro machines to name just two. most of the games they are releasing are'nt really that good, well in my opinion.
does anyone know anything about upcoming releases?

Read the virtual console thread, there are a load of absolutely brilliant VC games already released.

Street Fighter 2 hyper fighting is on there so there should be no need to be looking for any of the mortal kombat series, which in hindsight are disgraceful.

It's a far superior game and imo the best Beat'em up ever. There's no faulting many of the games that are already available. Super Mario World, Zelda: Link to the Past, Shining Force, Bomberman, Zelda: Ocarina of Time, F-zero X, Gunstar Heroes, Super Probotector, Dynamite Headdy, Ristar, R-type, Sonic 1, 2 and 3 etc. If you can find fault in any of those mentioned then you need a new soul. Just look at Virtual Console sticky. I've even my views on almost every VC game released and so have others if you are having trouble separating the wheat from the chaff or look at the excellent www.vc-reviews.com

If you are looking for an unmissable megadrive VC game you really can't miss out on Gunstar Heroes. Pure awesome.
Edit: I see you are looking for megadrive games specifically. Sega is doing a great job of releasing their back catalogue but we really need some third party games released. Capcom and Konami have some great MD games like Strider and Rocket Knight Adventures but seem to be concentrating on releasing their SNES back catalogue. Actually I don't think anyone other than Sega have released a VC game. I know Ghouls n' Ghosts was released but that was a conversion done by Sega and which Sega owns the rights to.

I am totally addicted to Paper Mario (N64) at the moment. Haven't had a good nights sleep in over a week ("..just ten more minutes...").

Great game. Although, very minor gripe, the fact that he's apparently 'paper' doesn't really seem to enter into the gameplay much. I quite like the visual style of the game, but I was expecting some fun things that "only a paper-thin guy in a 3D world" could do. So far at least, they could have just as easily used a 3D model.

Tbh, I was never a SEGA kid myself. Don't think I've bought a SEGA game yet for the VC.

i bought paper mario and to be honest i only played it for 5 minutes, then i realised..... i dont like mario! one of the flaws from growing up with the sega instead of the snes i guess

I'm not guaranteeing you'll end up liking it -- I've always been a big Mario fan myself -- but you should probably give it more than a five minute trial. It's certainly not your typical Mario game.. just the same characters and settings (and a parody of the series' typical story line) in RPG form.

It gets really engrossing after a couple of hours.

I guarantee you haven't played a mario game like this. If you can get over the cartoony graphics and cheesy humour, it's good fun.

I'm really getting into PM at the moment as well, was having second thoughts about buying Super PM, but I'll definitely give it a go now.
You should check out the sequel as well, that had a few new features that made better use of the paper characters (turning sideways to squeeze through gaps etc...)
Stevoman should definitely give it a bit more of a chance anyway, the game takes at least an hour of play before it really starts to grow on you.

I'd love a bit of Micro Machines TTE from the Mega Drive, that's easily one of the greatest multiplayer racing games of all time!

You should also get Super Mario World. It's a vastly superior game to the Sonics.

    Master of the Universe

Vastly superior? Meh, they're completely different platforming experiences. So much so that I think it's beyond saying one is better than the other at this point.

Doing so is more personal preference toward a specific style of platforming genre and a throwback to the Nintendo vs Sega days.

I think the Wii version - Super Paper Mario will appease those yearnings
