This maybe really obvious but I am really rubbish with chip ev and icm type situations as I don't tend to play satelites much and never really looked into it so just making sure.

This is a stars VIP satelite into monthly $100k tournament.
Top 9 qualify and there are 11 left.
I am 7th overall when this situation comes up

    POKERSTARS GAME #11975126123: TOURNAMENT #59555349, 130FPP HOLD'EM NO LIMIT - LEVEL XII (1000/2000) - 2007/09/10 - 06:00:09 (ET)
    Table '59555349 5' 9-max Seat #4 is the button
Seat 1: cirenono (11322 in chips)
    Seat 4: cooker3 (9633 in chips)
    Seat 5: huzurvar77 (11903 in chips)
    Seat 6: kingster45 (12805 in chips)
    Seat 7: DrStoll1 (5114 in chips)
Seat 9: Rebuff (25406 in chips)
    cirenono: posts the ante 100
    cooker3: posts the ante 100
    huzurvar77: posts the ante 100
    kingster45: posts the ante 100
    DrStoll1: posts the ante 100
    Rebuff: posts the ante 100
    huzurvar77: posts small blind 1000
    kingster45: posts big blind 2000
    *** HOLE CARDS ***
    Dealt to cooker3 [Ks Kd]
    DrStoll1: folds
    Rebuff: raises 4000 to 6000
    cirenono: folds
    cooker3: ???????

So guy is chip leader and is unlikely to fold. To the best of my knowledge DrStoll1 is lowest stack overall in the tournament including the other table. Blinds have just gone up also btw so about 9 minutes at this level.

    Very tough spot.
Fold - There will be plenty of opportunity's to steal re steal from the small and medium stacks.
Shove - He might fold or his Ace might not hit, either way after this hand you can fold into a seat.
In theory I fold in practice I shove. If I had 15K or more its an instafold.

Shove here and fold into a ticket.

I think you should shove becuase how the stacks are lined up. A 70% chance to win a seat looks ok at this point.

EDIT: I misread the hand, i though you were on the immediate left of the big stack. I think this makes a difference. You have the shortie though in BB in the next hand, so shoving a wide range shouldnt be done. Then the next hand you have the big stack, or if shortie gets knocked out, you will be shoving UTG, but shoving any two UTG 5 handed with these stacks is prob ok. You just need to start open shoving asap if you fold!

It really depends how the tables have been playing, you should have the other one open at this point too.

I'd "Salt N' Peppa" this in a heartbeat. Unless he's AA you're 70% to win and gain a ticket.

Push if you are beaten its just a cold deck.

You're not in a good enough position to contemplate folding here. Shove, if your KK holds up, you cruise in, if not, its just unlucky.

Not quite War Games yet Cooker,
The B ratio is only just 1, but its a low ratio as its 2/2
The shorties will have to move soon, they will get called light. If one or two double up you could easily end up in 9th or tenth place.

To be honest there isn't enough infomation in the OP. In this situation the other table makes a huge difference. From your position there are 3 players on the other table shorter than you. Depending on how short they are and position relation to the blinds. This might be a fold. Calling gives you a good chance of winning. But the other players make a huge difference at this point. I don't suppose you have that info

Couldn't agree more, he's unlikely to have aces - if he does it's just tough ****. You have to call here, if he sucks out - unlucky try again.

As I said I am fairly bad with these situations so your going to have explain what my b and low ratio means

I did have the other table at the time. As I said the short stack on my table was the shortest stack overall. 8th, 9th and 10th are on between 7000-9000 from memory. Currently both tables have for the most part being playing a game of past the blinds around so whoever is in bb usually takes the pot. The chip leader who has raised here is 1 of 2 who has been raising a bit (I have been the other) As you can imagine both tables are pretty much super tight.
