vhi, quinn or whatever health insurance co you are with (if you're with any) otherwise any travel agent will sell a policy starting from €30

A lot of travel insurance policies limit the period of cover on any one trip. I have an annual policy that covers any number of trips, but no one trip can be for longer than 30 days (would that I could make a trip for more than 30 days!).

I think you are wise to think of insurance, but it might cost rather more than €30. Perhaps you should phone a broker. Don't try to wriggle through by giving a wrong impression of how long you will be away. You'll get a policy that way, but if you need to make a claim, you might find that you are not covered.

    try getcover.ie

irish company and they do backpacker insurance. not sure of the rates for backpacking but they suit me when im away for a short trip.

I always get insurance, purely in case anything happened and i had to be transported home or treated abroad. I wouldnt even bother claiming for lost baggage etc.

i know two separate people who had accidents abroad and the cost on their folks to fly them home as they needed a nurse with them was over 25000. !!!
