Urgent Resize Question. Help!

    A company in England wants to use this photo for an educational brochure but it has to be resized, I've never done resizing before.

    I need to resize this photo so that it is 1000x1400 at 300dpi. How do I do this? I'm using GIMP.

    i'm not a gimp expert but offer the following for consideration;

    open the file in the gimp. click image->scale image

    fill out the desired parameters in the scale image dialog

    At 1400 width, your new size maintaining the aspect ratio of the original will be 1050 height so you may need to crop a little.

    x,y resolution becomes your 300 pixels/in

    again, i'm no expert in the gimp so others may suggest something else.

    That's certainly the way it works in Photoshop, more or less.

    Once you resize it as AnCatDubh suggests, see if there is a "Canvas Size" command. If there is you can set the pixel height to 1000 and the cropping is done for you,
