Corrupted x-D card.

Hello, not quite sure if this is the right place for this query or not, but here we go regardless. Last night I was preparing to copy some photos over from my 512MB Fuji x-D card using a card reader only to discover that the majority of the photos (some 150+) had vanished. I tried looking at them via the camera, but I could see even fewer on that. I deleted the images on the card I had renamed and left only the three that were viewable on the camera, but subsequent to this I was told that the card was not formatted.

The only problems I recall with the card are the following: the other day I accidentally dropped the camera, and for a few moments the card registered as blank but was subsequently fine. Also, years ago when I used a SmartMedia card camera one of the cards was corrupted after I tried to read it with the reader. Whether it is my fault for dropping the camera (which was on Friday) or the card reader's fault I'm not sure. I have the number of a chap in Athlone who does data recovery so as a last resort I'll contact him. Before that I'd really appreciate any advice anyone could give me, as all the lost pictures mean a huge amount to me. Cheers.

It might just be a problem with the file allocation table on the card.

Trial version available Badcopy pro. This worked for me when the same thing happened. I retrieved the data and formatted the card but have not trusted it for any length of time since - I use it as a backup card and always download the Photos straight away.

There are a couple of other apps around that say they do the same thing - you might try doing a search to see if you can find a free one.

Thanks so much for the replies, I downloaded Badcopy and was able to recover all the photos! One or two unimportant ones didn't come out right, but the main thing is I have them all back. Thanks for your help. :)
