    Hi There,

Anyone know the best place to buy similar speakers to these:

    Mission M33I:

Anywhere in Ireland or with a preference to germany/uk?

Have bought a plasma from Germany before, but that shop now shut. Anyone recommend a shop to buy speakers like these?

    Help much appreciated?

www.avimport.ie are the importers of mission into ireland.
On their website is a list of dealers so you can find one near you that might stock the product.

Excellent, thanks for the link - will check it out.

Anyone bought any cheaper in Germany? Recommends of hi/av shops in Germany?

Or as Mission are UK made, are they going to be cheaper in the UK than Germany after being imported etc?

edit: link to avimport doesn't seem to work for me. Is this the correct address?

    Oops, my mistake its www.avi.ie
Considering that these speakers would be reasonably heavy the shipping on them from uk/europe might outweigh any savings you'd make buying them abroad.
You should be able to pick up a set for under 320 euro a pair in ireland by my reckoning.
Let me know if you need any more info.

    Cheers

Not to throw a spanner in the works but.... Mission speakers are very bright, criminally bright in fact. Be very careful with what you partner them with or you'll end up with blood trickling from your ears.

I'd agree with the above, they are very bright but not uncomfortably so. I've partnered a pair of M33's with a Yamaha AX396 - great for DJ practice, gaming, movies and music.

Thanks for the comments, but I went ahead with them anyway and to a (very untrained ear) they sound very good to me. I have only used them for movies, but 4 of them with a Bronze Audio centre has left me with a big grin on my face when watching a film.

    From another website:
"Bright" is considered a negative term and is used by someone to put down a certain speaker and/or speaker line.

Many speakers have a very detailed presentation with a great deal of high frequency information present. With a mismatch in electronics and these detailed speakers, this amount of detail can cause listener ear fatigue.

When matched with higher quality electronics, these detailed speakers can present a very lifelike musical presentation. Some of the newer digital amplifiers as well as tube amplifiers can work very well with this type of speaker.

Some people do not want to hear all the details and/or they prefer speakers that present less detail in the higher frequency ranges. Very possibly their electronics are not up to the task of working with very revealing speakers.

Everyone's ears are different and you need to select a speaker that matches up best with your ears.

That's a bit of a dodgy definition of "bright" there.

Lot's of detail does not mean bright and bright does not mean detailed. Mission speakers are not particularly detailed and yet the top-end, the treble, is harsh and glaring. I'd agree with the notion that "bright" speakers cause listener fatigue but it's not from too much detail it's from harsh inaccurate treble.
