wireless connection between wireless routers

I currently have a functioning wireless network. I recently had a change in the topology and I can no longer connect my PS2 to the network via ethernet cat5. I have another router (Both NetGear WGT624v2 and a v3).The v2 is my WAP to cable provider and ISP. My question is can a wireless connection be made between the two routers. I set the second router with a static LAN/IP and did not config it for a WAP. I also turn off DHCP function on the second router.

Use the 2nd router instead or patch a cable from one to the other.
